I took this photo when out scouting shots for a painter friend of mine, Mort Luby. Mort and his wife were staying in Haiku for the winter, and we had a lovely time meeting them for lunch the day before.
It’s from Lahaina Harbor the morning of our last full day on Maui this past February, as we waited for our second whale watch of the trip. We hadn’t been down to Front Street that early in the morning before (7:30am) in all the times we’ve visited Maui, and it was an interesting to see things still opening and foot and car traffic be down to a minimum in such a popular place.
