…
Yes, speechless is about the only thing that comes to mind after flying doors-off in a helicopter as part of an excursion with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters during the Maui Photo Festival this week.
I’m only starting to go through the photos mostly because these few days at the festival have been really non-stop with learning and sessions that much of the post processing is probably better left for the plane ride home or in the next few weeks.
There will be more photos and write ups about my experience of door-free flying above the island of Maui, but I wanted to share a little of what I got through already. This shot is of Napili Beach, which is a spot we visited last February. I was shooting with both camera bodies during this 45 minute flight, and as with this shot, many were taken using my Rebel XSi and my new gear from a few weeks back.
It is really cool to be able to be this high up above the island and still be able to recognize the beaches and other sights down below. Here’s another shot of Napili Beach on our last trip to give you the from-the-sand perspective.
Pretty nice view no matter how you look at it, eh?
